Beanie Siegel
By Pharoh Talib

Streetz (S):  What’s been good with you Beans?

Beanie Sigel (B):  Back on the grind. I am just trying to get my label State Property Records up and running and recruit more artists.  Right now, I’m the first artist off my label [laughs].  I had to do my own thing because of the whole situation with Jay and Dame.  Everyone was wondering am I going over there or am I staying here? So I decided to keep it in the middle because I am cool with both of them. I’m definitely not that dude to choose between friends.  I just did my own thing.

S: Do you have distribution for your label yet?

B:  Right now, there are a few major record labels trying to get at me, and my main objective is to choose the best deal for State Property Records. Other than that, I still got State Property clothing line, Pro-keds, and a cartoon popping off.

S:  State Property kind of fell apart after you got locked up sending everybody different ways, who are you still cool with from the group?

B:  I’m alright with everyone.  Everybody’s grown and in life we have to make our own decisions.

S:  How do you feel about the East Coast, such as New York and Philly, not really getting much air play right now?  It seems that the South has a strangle hold on Hip-Hop right now.  What do you think the East Coast has to do to take the hold of Hip-Hop again?

B:  Right now there is nothing special to do, but just to keep doing what you doing.  Everything in life is a cycle and happens in turns.  Now it is the South’s turn to reign in Hip-Hop.  Personally, I love it.  It just brings a little more flavor to Hip-Hop.  I’m a person that if everybody is going right, I’m a go left.

S:  What can everybody expect from you in the near future?

B:  I’m going to drop a few mix tapes and then I’m going to release the album.  It’s going to be crazy.  Ya’ll already know what to expect from me.  My album is going to be a reflection of my growth and I am going to address a lot of issues such as the case, going to jail, different situations, and changes I’ve been through.

S:  What artists are you feeling right now in the game?

B:  I’m definitely feeling T. I., Jeezy, me of course, Three 6 Mafia, I’m loving them.  Other than that I listen to my classics such as Scarface and UGK.

S:  Any collaborations with Jay or Bleek for your new album?

B:  Of course, why wouldn’t I?  We still family, no love lost.
